LAKE MILLS, Wis. - April 19, 2004
Wisconsin Governor, Jim Doyle, recognized Vision Fitness,
a local fitness equipment company, for making a sizable contribution
to the Wisconsin Governor’s Challenge at a press conference
at St. Francis High School in Milwaukee on Monday, April 19. The
Challenge is a six-week program designed to inspire groups and
individuals to develop healthy habits by introducing exercise to
their daily routines. The Governor stated, “The three schools
with the highest participation will win exercise equipment donated
by Vision Fitness, and we certainly appreciate their participation

John Burke, CEO of Trek Bicycle Company, is “the driving force behind
the Challenge” according to the Governor and also directly thanked
Vision Fitness at the conference. He commented to the students at St. Francis, “I
want to point out Greg Waters, who is the President of Vision Fitness.
Vision Fitness has done an excellent job of stepping up and providing prizes
for both schools and community groups. They’re doing it with treadmills,
with exercise bikes, and also elliptical trainers. Those [items] will be
awarded to the top three schools and one top-achieving community group
around the state. All individuals who complete the challenge will be entered
into a drawing to win a fabulous stationery exercise bike. That goes for
all of you!”
Nearly 400 groups and more than 7,000 individuals across Wisconsin have registered
and will join Governor Doyle, his family, staff, and Vision Fitness employees
as they begin the six-week Challenge on April 19. In the 90 minutes prior to
the event at St. Francis, 200 students signed up to participate. Visit
